Approximately 25,000 households in Queensland's southeast woke up lacking electricity on Monday's dawn after intense storm systems impacted the state, producing powerful gusts reaching 109 kilometers per hour.
Substantial Hailstones and Extensive Damage
Homeowners observed large ice chunks as large as 7cm in some areas. Meteorological experts announced that different parts across Queensland had been impacted by significant hail.

Response teams were working to restore energy supply throughout the impacted areas, with approximately seventy teams deployed to manage the extensive power failures.
Southern State's Storm Challenges
At the same time, nearly one thousand households in the southern state also faced electricity disruptions after Melbourne recorded its heaviest rainfall in 18 months.
Rescue organizations received nearly 600 emergency reports across the area, primarily for building damage but also for fallen timber and flooding.

At one point on yesterday, more than twenty-eight thousand electricity consumers in Victoria were without power.
Meteorological Predictions
Damp conditions were predicted to continue along significant areas of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to draw in moisture against the coast.
The following day was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with ongoing thunderstorm potential anticipated across various areas of both states.
Health Warning
Public health experts warned that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
