Late-Night Personalities Take Shots at the President’s Defamation Actions and Right-Wing Narrative
During his Tuesday program, Jimmy Kimmel tackled Donald Trump’s recent lawsuit filing against the renowned newspaper for $15 billion.
“How does Trump even invent that amount?” the host joked. “It reminds me of something my kids make up when talking about riches.”
Kimmel further highlighted the contradiction in suing a publication the president had often claimed is “struggling.”
Kimmel suggested that the lawsuit will likely be dismissed, adding that the legal filing itself reads like “an extensive puff piece” of Trump’s TV and event credits.
Exploiting on a Murder
At the same time, Kimmel turned the focus to how some conservative figures are reacting to the death of commentator Charlie Kirk.
He specifically highlighted remarks by a political figure, who claimed without support that “the majority of the extremists in US society today are proud members of the far left.”
“And by ‘objective reality’, he really means ‘nonsense’,” the host fired back.
He further referenced the removal of a federal report that had pointed to far-right groups as the number one cause of homegrown terror in the United States.
The Late Show Host Jokes About the President’s UK Trip
Over on another show, the CBS host celebrated the show’s recent award victory then turning to the president’s current state visit to the United Kingdom.
Colbert commented that the president was keeping a surprisingly quiet visit, avoiding public events and remaining largely within Windsor Castle.
Protesters, though, found a way to protest visibly by revealing a massive sign featuring an old image of the president with Jeffrey Epstein.
“What will they use the banner after the trip is done?” Colbert joked. “Perhaps ‘Children, we have a donation gym equipment for this week’s activities.’”
The Late Night Host on Trump’s Business Transactions
The NBC host focused on a report piece that uncovered how the Trump family reportedly made approximately massive profits through cryptocurrency deals with the UAE.
In exchange, the Emirati authorities received entry to advanced artificial intelligence technology.
“That sounds clearly corrupt,” he commented, imitating Trump’s habit to change the subject to discuss about the new presidential venue when questioned about controversial matters.
The host also teased the president for warning an Australian journalist that he would report the journalist to the Australian prime minister.
“That’s such a tattletale,” he laughed. “You think that will intimidate an Australian? They reside with creatures the size of dinner plates.”
Although the drama, Meyers noted that Trump’s popularity numbers are at an all-time low, suggesting that most Americans are not backing his policies.
