National Football League Week 5 Action: Jets vs Cowboys and More Games

Live Football Updates

Greetings, NFL fans! Get ready for week five of the NFL action, where I'll deliver live coverage from the first matchups. It's a convenient mid-morning affair on the Pacific coast at 10am (PST), running to an late afternoon 6pm (BST) in England. We just saw, the Minnesota Vikings fought back to defeat the Browns 21-17 thanks to a short Jordan Addison scoring catch with just 25 seconds remaining at the London venue. The Vikings move to three wins and two losses, while Cleveland drop to one win and four losses. Today's slate is underway.

Today features a healthy roster of six matchups to track:

  • Baltimore Ravens v Texans

  • Carolina Panthers vs Miami Dolphins

  • Indianapolis Colts v Raiders

  • New Orleans Saints against Giants

  • Jets against Cowboys

  • Eagles v Denver Broncos

Key Battle: Philadelphia Host Denver

A highlight contest is unfolding in Philadelphia with the unbeaten Super Bowl champions welcoming from Denver. On paper, you might anticipate an easy win, but a brief look pops up reports doubting whether the Philadelphia are the least impressive undefeated squad in history. It's unclear. What we do know, is they have benefited from some fortune on kick units with three blocked kicks, including one that earned a win against the Rams. The key battle will be how Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph prepares his defense to contain Philadelphia’s versatile QB Jalen Hurts from marauding down the field. If they can make them throw, then a significant victory might follow for Denver, currently 2-2, which would have prognosticators, including me, that predicted the Broncos would finally depose the Chiefs in the AFC West feeling more optimistic.

Other Games to Watch

Elsewhere, a number of teams with single victories are keen to edge closer to .500 with a W, or right on the button in the case of the Cowboys after their wild 40-40 tie with the Packers has them at 1-2-1. A trip to the New Jersey to face the winless Jets should secure a win as they look to keep the offensive fireworks flowing between QB Prescott and wide receiver George Pickens. In the long run, star pass catcher Lamb's injury might benefit the Dallas as his increased role recently will have accelerated his development, creating the attack more powerful when he does return. In the here and now, the Jets’ backfield needs to be alert and even more to avoid a disappointing fall to 0-5.

Ravens Face Texans in Unexpected Matchup

A pair of surprising teams with one win and three losses meet in Maryland as the injury-hit Baltimore Ravens are guided into battle with the Houston Texans by reserve QB Rush. In this fixture previously, we saw Beyoncé’s amazing half-time show bookended by Houston enduring a horrendous 31-2 defeat at their stadium on the holiday, then a 34-10 beating in the playoffs a month later at Baltimore. But, in the absence of the injured two-time MVP Jackson on the field, who passed for four touchdowns, ran in three scores, and accumulated 507 total yards in the two thrashings, Houston’s unit will be confident.
