Patriots Match Best Victory Run Since Brady Era with Win Over New York Jets
First-year player Henderson has tallied five scores this season
New England equaled their longest winning run since the Tom Brady era as they defeated division rivals the New York Jets 27-14 in professional football
Rookie Henderson led the way with three TDs as the New England squad secured an eighth consecutive victory for the first time since iconic QB Tom Brady's final season with the franchise in the 2019 season
Quarterback Drake Maye passed for 281 passing yards and a touchdown, completing 25 of 34 passes
The triumph extends the New England's advantage at the top of the division as they moved to nine victories against two losses, with the New York at the foot after slipping to two victories and eight defeats
The Jets had gone in front at Gillette Stadium with QB Fields rushing for a five-yard touchdown to conclude the New York's initial series
But the New England fought back in the second period as Henderson scored two seven-yard touchdowns before the ball carrier caught a pass from Drake Maye at the rear of the endzone midway through the third quarter to make it 21 to 7
"It was a crucial moment for him rising to the challenge, and it's been great for him to keep gaining experience," Maye said of Henderson. "He wants to be outstanding."
Justin Fields threw to Metchie in the latter part of the third period to close the gap for the Jets but Andy Borregales converted a pair of field goals in the final period as the home side closed out the triumph
