World Series Final Game Draws Over 50 Million Viewers In the United States, Canada and Japanese Markets.

The exciting 11-inning clash where the Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays by one run drew a total 51M spectators in the US, Canada, and Japanese territories. MLB stated this is the highest-rated World Series finale after the 1991 showdown between the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Viewership Breakdown

Last Saturday’s memorable game drew 27.33M audience members on Fox channels, Fox Deportes and their streaming platforms. According to Nielsen, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the previous week.

It also is the top-rated World Series matchup since the 2017 edition final game between the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07M. This marks a 16% increase over the previous finale featuring the Washington Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed 4th, Game 4 ranked seventh, Game 5 came in 8th, and the third game landed in 13th place.

Global Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the game drew over 11 million viewers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports. This was the highest-rated English-language program in Canada after the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding contest started at 9 PM in the local time zone, it drew 12 million. This followed the previous Friday’s Game 6 – in which World Series MVP Yamamoto gave up a single run in six frames – recorded 13.1M spectators, making it the most-watched World Series matchup on a single network in Japan.

Series Averages and Patterns

The full seven-game World Series drew over 15.7 million audience members on Fox, a two percent rise from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This marks the initial instance since 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has recorded audience increases for two straight seasons.

Counting the Game 1 telecast on the Univision network, the total US average reached over 16 million. The total World Series average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1M in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels drew over 8 million watchers, an 8% increase compared to last year and Fox’s best postseason performance since 2017.

MLB reported that the World Series was broadcast in over 200 countries and territories by forty-four broadcasting partners in 16 various languages.
